How to safely enjoy summer 2020 on martha's vineyard

Updated: May 5, 2020

Covid-19 has changed the way we have to live moving forward. It requires us to be more conscious of our surroundings and daily hygiene that we used to take for granted. It HAS NOT changed our human need for interaction with others, laughter, and some long days of relaxing in the sun. So how do you mesh these two realities?

Renting an entire house with a few of your closest friends or family on Martha’s Vineyard. Here is how it works… depending on the size of your group, you find a 4-8-bedroom house instead of multiple hotel rooms to limit your exposure to others. For example, three families with 6 adults and 7 kids rent an 8-bedroom house like the one at 92 Main Street in in Vineyard Haven - which comfortably sleeps 16. You pack the car with groceries, grill food, beverages, yard games, beach stuff, and head to the Vineyard.

Every morning you make your own coffee, sit on the patio and enjoy your breakfast and company and prepare for the beach day. You pack the cars, drive out on Norton Point and grill all day in the sun. You come home at the end of the day, play lawn games in the yard, feed the kids dinner, and then wind down for the evening. Tomorrow you wake up and do it all over again.

No concerns of restaurants, waiting in lines, crowded areas, package stores, etc. A safe family trip that you all will remember forever. We can still enjoy summer as we normally do, but with changes to what summer normally is.
