SUMMER 2020 ON MARTHA'S VINEYARD IS NOT CANCELED

If you're wondering whether you should make your annual trip to Martha's Vineyard this summer, the answer is yes! We can tell you firsthand that it feels relatively normal down here. The harbors are full of people grabbing food and drinks, main street shops are all open and allow walk-in customers, and the beaches are full. We would say the biggest difference we see is that hours of operation have shortened but we expect that to increase through July and August.
Some things are actually getting better with the changes...
1. Towns have lightened their restrictions on outdoor seating and most restaurants have taken their seating capacity outside. Maybe this will be successful and lead to some permanent change.
2. Most restaurants have shifted their menus to take out items and have improved the ordering and pick up process. Now you can have the island's best foods easily picked up and enjoyed on a beach or a porch. This used to be a hassle with busy restaurants and long waits.
3. Towns like Oak Bluffs have closed off their main street (Circuit Ave) on Sundays and let the shops and restaurants bring their operations to the sidewalk. This too will hopefully become permanent.
Summer 2020 isn't canceled, but rather the most important year of them all. Bring your mask, respect social distancing, and the rest feels normal. Come join us at The Dexter. We promise you won't be disappointed.
